Liona Mart’l Bates, also known as Marty, is the owner and operator of “Th Nu You” Beauty Salon.  Bates moved to Ripley over seven years ago, bringing her passion and skill as a beautician.

Bates gained her license after attending Granite City School of Beauty Culture and worked in Madison, Illinois under the guidance of Janice Love at Hair of Glory.

Joining her is Ricky Cox as manager and professional stylist.

Bates is the the mother of Christopher Franklin, Deja and Faith Bates.  She is the proud “Nana” of Brea Nicole.  Bates has always had the love of doing hair and her daughter Deja is following in her footsteps as a braider in her shop.

Bates wants her shop to be a place clients can relax and enjoy as they get pampered and treated special.

Bates wishes to give a special thanks to  Aaron Hunt, owner of Creative Awning and Signs, for  leasing his building and Mr. Alexander for his help with the remodel.  She would also like to thank her sister, Loretta Smith, for all the behind the scenes work and encouragement given to make this a reality.
